YJ2: Little Barda colored

Pardon the shoddy coloring, I'm still working on things...but I just wanted to show what I came up with for LB here. You might notice something a little...different about her, considering her canonical appearance, BTW...

...and no, Jpalo, I'm still not talking about her breast size.

As you should realize by now, I love obscure or forgotten characters, and, last night, I stumbled upon an interesting one from the New Gods, the colorfully-named "Jezebelle of the Fiery Eyes," one of the first Fourth World characters NOT created by Jack Kirby himself. A "mutant" of Apokalips who was trained to be a Female Furie, Jez was captured during an invasion attempt on New Genesis (the "good" counterpart to Apokalips for those unfamiliar) where she decided she liked being a good guy instead of a Furie...who can blame her, really?

So, apparently her mutant power was the ability to make positive lifestyle choices. Ask me, that puts her head and shoulders above most of the X-Men.

At any rate, she was killed by Necromina, one of Darkseid's elite officers who is best described as an ugly parade balloon who can raise the dead (actually, a better description is "the only female New God to make Granny Goodness look sexy by comparison") and, following the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" reboot-a-palooza, the only New God to NEVER get another appearance, save a background group shot in "Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle," despite initially being built up as Orion's potential girlfriend.

SO...we have a female escapee from Apokalips who defects to the side of good. Sounds kinda...familiar...

"But what about the blue skin?" I hear you whine, "Little Barda was white!" Yeah, Primus forbid we have a teenage super-heroine in the DCU who isn't Caucasian...well, considering it was established within his earliest appearances that Orion was actually some kinda pug-ugly monster-boy whose looks his Mother Box, the sentient all-powerful iPad of the GODZ all folks from Apokalips AND New Genesis have, would alter into his more aesthetically-pleasing (?!) New Genesis looks in order to "curb his savage tendencies and keep his true nature subdued" (read: "enable him to interact with others without them upchucking on his divine Birkinstocks"), it should be no stretch to conceive that Jez's MB would do the same for her, especially considering she was specifically seeking to emulate a specific person. Mother Boxes may be capable of anything, but even they have power limits, so, after spending years trying to repair her poor wannabe Barda, Jez's might have finally given up the ghost-in-the-machine and let her charge's appearance revert to her normal blue hues, deciding that life is more important than looks and, frankly, if that nice Wagner boy in the next superhero universe over is fine with HIS skin color...

So, not only do I get to pull one forgotten heroine from the Didio Kenmore of Doom, but I also get to redeem a second one as well; bonus, not only does Jez have the super-strength and godly endurance needed to emulate (if not match) Big Barda, but she also gains the powers of flight and heat vision ("Jezebelle of the Fiery Eyes," remember?), essentially making her a pseudo-divine Supergirl of sorts. I may not go with the flight powers, though...might make her a little TOO much like Supergirl.
