YOUNG LEGENDS 1 ROUGH DRAFT:

JENNY EVERYWHERE, imprisoned in a dark, evil place (very Kirby/Byrne/Simonson looking), tries to run from mocking dark voice of JENNY NOWHERE, but every door is sealed by locks marked with copyright, trademark, and restricted symbols. Nowhere taunts her by saying that she's trapped in her domain and that she'll "parade your severed head in public for all to see..." which inspires Jenny to type into her wrist computer thingy; this causes the ground and the room itself she's in to unravel around her, dropping her into a white void. While Nowhere rages, Jenny starts grabbing the unraveling threads, who are now turning prismatic, and starts weaving them together into the grid of a comic book page, which catches her like a net at first, then she climbs down it like a ladder as a setting beins to coalesce around her...

...revealing THE PANTHEON BUILDING, former headquarters of the LEGENDS OF JUSTICE. Cleanup crews are in the process of prepping it for reopening, while CONNIE and SHAPE-LASS (who was previously male, going by their conversation) are walking out front, talking to each other like old friends.

As they banter, SAUCERBOY walks up and introduces himself; Shape-Lass recognizes his costume as belonging to Fatman The Human Flying Saucer, but Saucerboy corrects her that that's his dad, and that he heard about the LoJ being reformed and was applying to join. While Connie starts to explain that you can't just walk up to a hero team and join like that, Jenny walks up, looking around, muttering about how she should have guessed it'd be a super hero universe. AS Connie, Saucerboy, and Shape-Lass walk up to ask her who she is, she says "Whoops!" and quickly types something into her wrist thingy...which causes both Connie and Shape-Lass to squeal with delight and hug her, asking her where she's been, to which Jenny replies, "Um...everywhere and nowhere..?"

She then looks out at the reader/writer and says, stage-whisper style, "...so the question is, if this is a superhero universe, where's the next big explosion going to be?"

As she says that, a giant meteor rcokets past overhead, followed by a number of alien vessels. The four watch as it impacts on the other side of town; the girls wonder out loud how to get there, prompting Saucerboy to change into his flying saucer form and offer to give them a lift.

MEANWHILE, from the crumbling remains of the meteor emerges WONDERBOY, looking a little frazzled/battered but still intact. Before he can react, laser bolts start hitting the ground around him. As he shields himself, the alien ships break apart into smaller human-sized GORCKIC alien attackers. While most attack Wonderboy, others start atacking bystanders, spraying them with sticky glop from their tails. Wonderboy quickly leaps away, landing near a giant statue; he grabs it and, the fabric around his hands cracking with a "Kirby Dots" effect, uproots it and smashes several of the aliens with it like a club. As he raises it for another swing, however, instead of being flattened, they're simply scattered into smaller aliens...who start recombining into a kaiju-scale version with a stinger tail.

SUDDENLY, the beast is blasted as the girls, riding on top of Saucerboy's almost ridiculously too-small saucer form, swoop in from above. Connie comments about "a giant monster? That means that it looks like a job..." as she jumps from Saucerboy, expanding as she falls into KONGA THE APE GIRL, landing easily at the same scale as the GORCKIC PRIME monster. While they wrestle, Shape-Lass stretches down to attack the uncombined Gorckics and Saucerboy lays down covering fire, Jenny clinging to his antenna.

Apart from the battle, several of the Gorckics continue to gook up bystanders retreating to a nearby alleyway...when a boomerang flies from the shadows, riccocheting off of several of their heads. As the still-conscious ones react, DEVILMOON leaps from the shadows and starts fighting them, knocking them out before using one of her boomerangs to start cutting the trapped innocents free, casting a dark glance at the fight raging nearby...

Saucerboy, still firing at Gorckics, lands near Wonderboy, telling Jenny to get off quickly. As she slides off of him, he quickly reverts to human form, sweating and explaining that he "can't hold that shape as long as my folks can yet." Wonderboy starts talking to them in an alien language as he discards the remains of his makeshift weapon, prompting a shrug of confusion from Saucerboy before he is blasted and collapses in front of them, prompting Jenny and Saucerboy to realize they're surrounded by Gorckics all levelling their guns at them...

...before all of the attackers are knocked flying by a silver blur that darts in and out of them, before stopping and revealing itself to be SILVER STREAK. As Shape-Lass stretches down to explain what's going on, introduce Silver Streak, and point out that all the Gorckics are running and merging with the kaiju Prime that has now overwhelmed Konga, who is now in full King Kong gorilla mode and struggling against its tentacles and stinger-tail, Jenny quickly types into her wrist-thingy before describing the aliens and explaining that the Prime's weakness is the central eye/jewel/whatever. Shape-Lass quickly forms into a giant slingshot, which Silver Streak stretches to its maximum as fast as he can before getting launched into said weakpoint, blasting through it and carrying a tiny version ot the Prime kaiju out of it. With that, the beast quickly shatters into THOUSANDS of tiny Gorckics that scatter unconscious to the ground as Konga bursts free.

Silver Streak holds the tiny Gorckic Prime in his metal hands while it futilely tries to sting him (and Shape-Lass comments about him previously being Meteor) while Saucerboy and Jenny help a dazed Wonderboy to his feet, when Konga swings one of her giant fists at them, almost crushing them all. As Shape-Lass tries in vain to restrain her, explaining with Silver Streak how when she gets too large, she turns feral and rampages, Saucerboy leaves Wonderboy with Jenny and steps forward, small saucer-like antennae (think Shrek ears) pop from his head as he closes his eyes and reaches out to Konga, thinking "relax...you are safe...you want to be small...the fight is over...you want to be small now..." Konga resists at first, then begins to look dazed and drowsy before rapidly shrinking to her "standard" near-7-foot ape-girl form, Shape-Lass wrapping herself around Konga like a bathing suit.

MEANWHILE...in the dark, evil place, Nowhere broods about having lost Jenny, but comments that "you arent the only one with open access to the source code of all realities" before summoning OCTOBRIANA, hidden in silhouette except for her long blonde hair, her eyes, and the red star on her forehead, and teleporting her in a similar rainbow crossweaving as what Jenny used to escape. "Now, my pet...FETCH!"

The bystanders cheer (and Devilmoon vanishes unseen into the shadows, glaring at the team) as Shape-Lass helps the police scoop up unconscious Gorckics, Konga now wearing a police jacket or the like. Saucerboy uses his telepathy to help Jenny wake Wonderboy up while Konga and Shape-Lass introduce Saucerboy to Silver Streak as "the newest member of the team." Wonderboy wakes up, talking in an alien language as Jenny translates that his name is "Wondyr of Viro" and that the Gorckics were trying to capture him because he is "the last of my kind..." when he finally notices Jenny and reacts violently, grabbing her by the neck and angrily shouting as the wrist thingy translates that she is "THE SHIFTER...THE ONE WHO KILLED ALL OF VIRO!"

TO BE CONTINUED..!
Since the "Wardoll" rough draft outline went over so well (I know it's mainly because it was Maisy, I'm not fooling myself), I decided to post this, too: a sudden inspiration for the first issue of my long-gestating Public Domain Super Hero team project, The Young Legends. Ironically, this was written a month ago, and the "Wardoll" prologue has gotten me hyped about my own OCs (still deciding if they exist in the same universe as the PDSH ones), but I still have plans for these guys too (besides, the Gorckics are my creation, originally for a completely different project).

Couple things to note: all but one of these characters are making their first appearances in this gallery, and the one who has appeared here is A} going by a different name ("Devilmoon" instead of "Devil-May-Care"...I'm still working on a name that feels right) and B} is practically a cameo (she WILL play a larger role in later issues, but her intro here is to emphasize her "loose cannon" status). While I HAVE designs for the characters, I don't have anything more than rough costume doodles so far, nothing scannable...which probably begs the question of "why use a bunch of brand-new characters when you already have a bunch of already designed ones in the gallery?"

Because.

...no, seriously. I've been tinkering with this lineup for the better part of last year, on and off, and THIS is the one that suddenly gelled in one of those "3AM Alchemy" moments. That said...this issue IS pretty rough, and feels kinda "by the numbers" as-is. Hell, it practically feels like a rip-off of Marv Wolfman/George Perez's "New Teen Titans" Issue 1/the season 5 episode "GO" of the original TT cartoon series, which was PARTIALLY intentional, but not to the near-plagarism levels this is.

Still, I think I'm on the right track here. It feels right, it just needs some reworking (Hel-LO? "Rough Draft?"), and the semi-meta role of Jenny Everywhere brings a wrinkle to the formula that I think I can really put to good use...especially in answering the questions of whether she accidentally created the "Young Legends" universe, and, if she did, what does that say about her nemesis' power levels..?

Also, since Jenny Everywhere ( pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Shifter_(J… ) is a part of this project, I am required to post the following paragraph (it's a goodwill thing):

"The character of Jenny Everywhere is available for use by anyone, with only one condition. This paragraph must be included in any publication involving Jenny Everywhere, in order that others may use this property as they wish. All rights reversed."

Glad to see you making things again dude. :)
Anyway, for a rough draft outline it does lay the groundwork well and the added bonus of Jenny Everywhere does add a different dynamic that can really help this story.
